AdventHealth La Grange Emergency Department Expansion

Because of increasing volumes and demand for emergency care in the community, AdventHealth La Grange needed to expand its Emergency Department. The existing department had 13 exam rooms and saw over 30,000 cases yearly in a significantly undersized and outdated facility. Together with Eckenhoff Saunders, AdventHealth La Grange developed a plan to increase the number of exam rooms to 23 with an independent fast track area for less acute cases.
The project involved creating a new 7,000 sf addition with a lobby and entrance for patients separate from ambulance traffic. Upon completion of the addition, work commenced renovating the current 14,000 sf department to a state-of-the-art emergency department. Careful planning of the phased construction was necessary for executing the project while the 24/7 department still served the community.
