Conversion of 70,000 sf parking structure into LEED Gold certified museum
Chicago, Illinois
As part of a design-build team, ESA was challenged to convert an existing parking structure into state-of-the-art facilities. The four-story, 70,000 sf building will house exhibits, the Radio Hall of Fame, a multimedia café, administration offices, and multipurpose screening space. The museum is anticipated to qualify for a LEED Gold rating for sustainable design. The design reflects the museum’s new identity and commitment to celebrating all forms of media.
The museum was an official selection of the Chicago Architecture Foundation exhibition, “Big and Green Chicago” and was also included in the City of Chicago’s “Celebration of the Environment Month” at O’Hare Airport.
