Chicago, Illinois – State and Adams Location

Originally owned and operated by Exelon Thermal Technologies, the State and Adams District Cooling Plant houses 60 ice tanks and chillers capable of producing 25,000 tons of cooling. It was the first plant of its kind in downtown Chicago and is crowned by the largest cooling tower in the Loop.

Due to the plant’s location on State Street, a prominent downtown Chicago retail district, it was necessary for ESA to design a building that would enhance the street’s character and provide for 10,000 sf of retail space on the first floor.
