In creating this award-winning 4,000 square foot Women’s Primary Care clinic located in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, efforts were made to develop a “clinic prototype” that could be implemented throughout Rush’s growing network.
With that in mind, the planning of the space was developed to be adaptable with respect to varying demographics, different environments, future technology, flexibility, retaining/attracting staff and physicians, and the increasing patient population.
At this location, providing an environment that was welcoming, nurturing and relaxing was achieved by taking advantage of the building’s existing architecture, complementing it with fresh materials. The rich characteristic of the vintage building’s heavy timber construction became a feature in the reception and waiting area, as well as the core space. With eight exam rooms arranged around an open work core, maximum observation and workflow efficiency were achieved.
Incorporating Rush’s brand identity was successfully implemented using materials, furniture, and technology that included brand colors and reflected the organization’s outlook: modern, progressive and humanistic.
