Rush Lakeview

Chicago, Illinois

In creating this award-winning 4,000 square-foot Women’s Primary Care clinic located in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, Eckenhoff Saunders developed a “clinic prototype” that Ruch University Medical Center (RUMC) could implement throughout its growing network.

With that in mind, the team developed space planning that was adaptable for varying demographics, different environments, future technology, flexibility, retaining/attracting staff and physicians, and the increasing patient population. Together with RUMC, our team sought to provide an environment that was welcoming, nurturing, and relaxing, by taking advantage of the building’s existing architecture and complementing it with fresh materials.

The rich character of the vintage building’s heavy timber construction became a feature in the reception and waiting area and the core space. With eight exam rooms arranged around an open work core, our team achieved maximum observation and workflow efficiency. Eckenhoff Saunders successfully incorporated RUMC’s brand identity into the space using materials, furniture, and technology, reflecting its outlook: modern, progressive, and humanistic.
