Printer’s Row Mixed Use Development

Chicago, Illinois

The conceptual design for this mixed-use development in Printer’s Row is framed by the site’s narrow footprint. The elegant, simple architectural response uses glass, concrete, and steel, making a contemporary statement while respecting the character of the surrounding neighborhood.

Every unit features a balcony with skyline views and access to a rooftop garden. These balconies swoop outward from the building’s sides to create a gracefully curving profile and distinct identity against the skyline. The plan maximizes daylight and breaks up long corridors with aesthetic visual treatments. In planning, the emphasis was placed on creating both formal and informal meeting and workspaces. A divisible breakroom opens up into a board room and special consideration is given to the server and mailrooms.
