Madison Park

Chicago, Illinois

In conjunction with the John Buck Company and Juan Gabriel Moreno Architects (JGMA), Eckenhoff Saunders was retained to conceptualize and design Madison Park, a new open-air landscape structure spanning a full block over the Kennedy Expressway between Madison and Monroe streets in downtown Chicago.

The park accommodates all traffic movement on and off the 10 lane interstate while connecting the West Loop with downtown Chicago. In addition to providing open green space, the park facilitates cross block pedestrian paths, enhances retail opportunities, and provides a great lawn for large events/flexible spaces. The design work included preliminary engineering and pricing for the $100 million development.
