International Union of North America (LiUNA) Chicagoland Laborers’ District Council Training and Apprentice Fund Training Center

Chicago, Illinois (North Austin)

Laborers Union International of North America (LiUNA) established its training and apprentice fund in 1986 to provide vital training and education for laborers in the construction trades. Under this fund, the recently completed state-of-the-art 53,000 sf addition to the existing Chicago facility makes it the largest LiUNA training facility in North America, training 3,500 LiUNA members annually.

The new addition features classrooms, high-ceiling training bays, an auditorium, and a cafeteria, arranged in a highly flexible, functional, and cost-effective environment for training skills.

The facility is designed under Chicago’s sustainable development policy and features abundant natural light, a green roof, and summer solar control. LiUNA also engaged After School Matters to create a one-of-a-kind, permanent memorial to fallen laborers, which adorns the building.
