Jordan Community School

Chicago, Illinois

Jordan Academy’s first floor houses preschool through primary classrooms, administrative offices, and a multi-purpose room that functions as both a cafeteria and auditorium for school and community use. A full-service kitchen provides breakfast and lunch for students and staff. Intermediate through upper-grades are on the second floor, as well as special-use classrooms and gym.

Because a primary focus of Jordan’s science curriculum is horticulture, a greenhouse was installed on the third floor and classes access this space from the science classroom. Located over the south end of the building, the third floor also houses a library with a dramatic barrel-vaulted ceiling.
