De La Salle Institute
Masterplan for new high school campus
Chicago, Bronzeville Neighborhood
Located in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago, De La Salle is a 110+ year-old institution. The school will remain in its current location, but its aging infrastructure and lack of adequate athletic grounds require expansion. ESA’s plan creates a campus identity; plans for a technology-rich learning environment; creates a championship-quality stadium; increases parking capacity; builds a theater complex to be used by the whole community; maintains the safety of students; and meets ADA requirements. A new building located across Michigan Avenue and connected to the rest of the campus via a glass-enclosed bridge will utilize the latest educational technology in an all-laptop learning environment. It will increase the school’s academic space by 50 percent and be LEED certified.
